lunch date

Monday, February 8th, 2010

this snowstorm may not have been good for my stir-craziness, or for my footwear, but it sure has been good for the blog. one thing it has afforded us, in all this time off, is a chance to take lots of pictures (and together! which doesn’t happen as much as you’d think it would for living all of five blocks from one another, but we are trying to be better about that). another thing it has given us is lots of gorgeous sunshine! megan and i met up today to have lunch and trudge around town and here are some snapshots of our afternoon:

So, my East Coast/Southern ladies, on a scale from 1 to over it, how are we feeling about the constant snow predictions?  It’s a good thing I love my boots! and faux fur!  Man, how I love me some faux fur. And sequins too.  I hope when I’m 75 I still love those things.

Laura and I were having a strangely serious gchat conversation today (as serious as a convo can be on gchat, I suppose) – talking about owning homes, businesses – being married, having children (children in the future-tense, most assuredly) – and it made me think about the blogging community (as a lot of things seem to do!).  It is pretty damn cool to belong to such a vibrant, supportive community of like-minded women who are all in v. different places in their lives (we’re single, married, living with a significant other, we go to college, are teachers and counselors, have kids or sometimes dogs – and everything in between!) yet come together in a unique, sometimes surreal sort of way, and I love, love it!

On that note, L and I really wanted to get to the Chictopia conference this month to meet all of you guys who have decided to go (we’re looking at you, Christina @ Second Skin, Coco from Our Paper Moon and Tieka from Selective Potential!) – but unfortunately procrastination, jobs and other crazy life things have gotten in the way.  Sigh.  Maybe September?!

Aw, crap, it’s snowing again.

Sooooo at this little partay that L mentioned in her previous post, we all participated in a [slightly drunken] snowman building contest.  we were team chicfaced (obvi) plus a 1 Mr. chicfaced.  You can see that our snowman came in two parts….head on a platter type deal.

It’s so messed up. I laugh every time I see it, but it is so messed up.  Anyway, for what it’s worth, we won the contest.

You can sort of get an idea of what I was wearing, too, which was all gray/silver/black (save for the purple hat) and many, many layered.

Time to go wrap presents and make some peppermint bark, mmmm.

lots of snow or, a perfectly good excuse to stay in bed all day, drink coffee, read magazines, online window shop and nap

look ma, we’re famous! a snowy white snapshot of our lovely little town:

green means go.  ahhahahha.  what a chump.  Anyway, Tom trekked out in the white stuff to get us coffee this “morning” and came back to report that cnn was camped outside the coffee shop….they’re obviously getting some hard hitting reporting done.

stay warm, everyone!
