I don’t know if I’ve mentioned but… I’m growing my hair out. I know!

I’m in the market for some more headbands and have been favorite-ing them all over the place.  I say favorite-ing instead of buying since ya know, I’m opening up a store (sorry, shameless plug – but hey, I’m excited!) and don’t have the funds.  I’m gonna choose one, I think (and unfortunately, it won’t be the Jennifer Behr).

headband-jennifer-behrThis is more jewelry than it is a headband – no earrings necessary with this beauty.  I’ll take her hair, too, btw.

I saw Rumi wear this Headmistress headband awhile back and love it so much!.  Obvi, she can pull it off – I, on the other hand, may not be so lucky.  The price is right, though – I was expecting it to be much more but it’s super reasonable!  Look at that, I’m talking myself into buying it while I blog!  p.s. her hair is super cute, too!

I also found this sparkly number by Gail Sorronda on fashiontoast as well.  I’m a sucker for anything with a sequin (aren’t we all?)

headband-gail-sorronda-fashiontoastI love the color of this Free People headband – would def go with a lot this summer and looks pretty comfy (it’s the worst when you’ve got a headband headache!)

And, of course, no headband post can be complete without talking about Love, Taza headbands.

I love all her handmade headbands but you’ve got to be on.your.game. to snatch one up – they sell out faster than fast when she stocks her shop.  I love them all and currently own the Bekah but they’re all so damn pretty!

I have some serious decisions to make, no?  Sorry I’ve been so MIA from the blog recently – it’s crunch time with the shop (opening April 30!) so I haven’t exactly been wearing the cutest outfits nor have I been as near my beloved computer as I would like.  Things should be back to normal by the end of the month, though!  Thanks for sticking around old friends, and a big hello to all our new readers!

I fell a little in love with Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw when I saw this video of ALK on Huff Post and though she was gorgeous, relatable and I liked that she said no to walking in Alexander McQueen’s crazy Lady Gaga heels (no offense, AMQ – RIP).  From what I’ve seen of her personal style too, she’s quirky, eclectic and isn’t afraid of color – which is a refreshing departure from a lot of the Alexander Wang model-y types (not hatin, just sayin).  She seems cool, in the Alexa Chung, Chanel Iman sorta way.

Anyway, then I saw that pink hair and – um, out of control! I died a little. Dip dyed magenta hair? Yes, yes, please!  jussttt…!! Grow, hair, grow! What do you think guys, too much?!?

hi all!  quick post from me tonight – seems like my days and evenings are filled with things like work?!?! but but…

Since I’ve been wearing the same outfit (old jeans, gray t-shirt and falling apart boots) all week (heelllooo gallery installation!), I figured I’d post some of my favorite style shots of my favorite bloggers from 2008.  back in the DAY shit, in other words.

I like to browse through the archives of my favorite bloggers quite often, actually, just to get re-inspired – sometimes I feel like I get in a rut style-wise and it’s nice to 1) remind myself of the time when I got so interested in fashion and 2) to remind myself that you, and your style, are always constantly evolving!  Sometimes change is good!

untitled-21

I made it my mission to convert L to a Gossip Girl fan and after the first 2 discs of Season 1, I think it’s already mission accomplished!  I’ve had a lot of fun re-watching the beginning – and re falling in love with Serena’s wardrobe.  These are just a few of my favorites from Season 1.  She’s the eclectic, vintage-y, colorful, risk-taking sort of girl that I love.  Sequins and make up at 8am for class? Why not! What amounts to a sparkly, flowery nightgown for a formal brunch? mm-hmm.  She’s def an inspiring character to watch, fashion-wise….and oh yeah, have I mentioned I covet her hair?

Sorry I’ve sucked at updating recently, but falling ill coupled with breakdown time at the gallery (read: jeans and a sweatshirt to patch holes) has made for a very unmotivated and grubby looking me.  Anyone else fall into ruts like this? These leggings are gonna have to go eventually…

i take it all back

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

after the disappointment of last month’s september issues (and covers), the fashion powers that be have redeemed themselves in my eyes (i’m mostly looking at you, anna). october’s us elle and us vogue both feature on their covers two women who could not be more different, but who both look stunning, and both make me wish i could sport a really short pixie cut (megan, you lucky girl). rarely do celebrity editorials do much for me, but these two were a definite exception.

first up: michelle williams, in a very edie-sedgwick-meets-mia-farrow 60′s inspired set, photographed by mario testino. i love michelle, not only for her adorable style, but also because she seems like a very down-to-earth and genuine person. and she also seems like someone who you could be friends with, have a good laugh but also have a meaningful conversation with. and i think she looks lovely here:

next up: victoria beckham, photographed by tom munro, lounging about at the beverly hills hotel, in a similarly soft-lit, 60′s retro-styled editorial, although this one has a more west coast glam vibe than the previous. and i think the reason it’s so appealing, at least for me, is because it showcases vicki b’s love of insanely fab high fashion, and also it shows how pretty she is, which can be easy to forget in some of the crazy get-ups she wears (not complaining, btw, just sayin).

SO. Listen up!

I’ve been lusting after this mother effin jacket for, like, my entire life:

ro-blister-jacketThe Rick Owens blister leather jacket – that you can purchase at net-a-porter for a bargain steal of $2700.  The chicfaced like Ashley Olsen and Rachel Bilson have made me crazy with jealousy:

It’s perfectly slouchy and textured  and perfectly fitted and there’s an off-center zipper and – and the huge, floppy collar….and – and i lust! i die! i wantttttt! (p.s. can we talk about Ashley Olsen’s hair for a second? Seriously. She’s so pretty.)

Enter Laura, the love of my life.  ”Hey!” she says, “look what I found for you!” I clickity clicked on the link, cause when your fashion friend tells you to click on a link….you better do it.

vs-leather

!!!!!! What’s this!?  An incredibly satisfying knock-off real leather jacket selling for TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS at Victoria’s Secret!?? “Laura”, I said, “you’ve just saved my life.” Metaphorically speaking, of course, let’s not get carried away.

I bought, it shipped, the clouds parted, rainbows appeared, angels sang, I love!

I ran downstairs to do a quick photo shoot to show you guys the jacket (not the best light, but you get the idea)….as I was prancing around making funny faces, I heard laughter outside (T, at the moment, is at a friend’s house).  Rule #1: if you’re going to prance around and make funny faces w/all the lights on, when it’s dark out, and the windows are up and open, don’t be surprised when your webmaster, his fiance (your sometimes-photographer) are standing outside, pointing, laughing, and scrambling for their cameras.  Reason 239238 why living in a small town where you know everyone is always an adventure : )

This picture went off on the self-timer just as I discovered my spies:

caught

p.s. I may or may not be wearing a tank top and running shorts w/this and Anna may or may not have laughed at my hysterically once she saw my ensemble.

I think it’s safe to say that L and I have full-on, venti-size, gold and glittery girl crushes on Ms. Zoe.  She’s hilarious, seems like a great time, has a ba-nanas vocabulary , has an ah-mazing wardrobe and pretty much the best job ever.

Last night was the Season 2 premiere and did not disappoint.  It was full of fabulous couture, zoe-isms, sweet Rodg, crazy Taylor, hilarious Brad and of course, Rachel flitting around, forever on the edge of a meltdown (I’m not dying for anything. Are you dying for anything?”)

zoe-missoniRachel is in Missoni (obvi).

And… can we just talk about her new studio for a second?

zoe-studio1what!  look! shoes! vintage dresses! couture dresses!…..dresses!

zoe-studioOut of control. seriously?! seriously! look at those effin shoes.  I mean….

Yes, the zoe-isms are back – and better than ever.  ”Shut.it.down. Iiiiiii ddiiiiiiiiiiie.  Bah-na-nas.  Another level” and my favorite, “I seriously feel like I carried that dress around in my womb for 9 months and birthed it for the Golden Globes.”

Also, as per usual, Brad stole the spotlight, you know, being Brad.  ”Hey, Rachel, who am I? Like…either they e-mail or they don’t, like, whatever Rach. I hate the Golden Globes. Ew, like, god. Ugh. Am I pretty??”  oh lololol. The comedic timing on this show is so spot on.

paperproject08_190rquik_e

So glad to have them back!

p.s Does Rachel make anyone else want to be swathed in chunky gold bracelets and long flowing vintage caftans, like…always? Cause she sure makes me want to. Just sayin is all.
